Location sound, selected projects:
SRAM, Pro Cycle Commercials
Getting usable location sound in challenging sound environments often becomes a battle of timing. Frequently we don’t have unlimited amounts of time with subjects and find ourselves accepting the occasional stray noise understanding that the way the user experiences sound in the mediated experience variegates in many ways. The start of the Tour of California is clearly not a pristine sound environment. Location sound can be thought of as a very specialized skill, as the field moves toward a one man band model where the shooter becomes increasingly responsible for sound, producers should realize that in that configuration sound is always sacrificed first.
These commercial spots were produced by BRAKE THROUGH MEDIA, for the pro cycle maker SRAM. I served as the location sound person.
